The Caminito del Rey is a passage built in the Desfiladero de los Gaitanes, located in Málaga's district. It is a more than 3 kilometres long pedestrian bridge, terraced to the rocks inside of a canyon, which is 1 meter width and suspended on almost 100 meters high above the river. Time has damaged it heaviliy: there was no handrail in the entire route and there were also crumbled sections, the support beam was the only thing standing.
The route is linear, not circular, and it goes in one direction, downwards from the north to the south. Its beginning is in the Town of Ardales and the end in Álora. This route is almost 8 km long, and takes from three to four hours to be crossed.
In 2014, the rebuilding works were started. A new walkaway with wooden panels was built. Are you joining the adventure?
